A Russian woman has been sentenced to 7 years in prison for defrauding $23 million in Bitcoin
Internet reports that a Russian woman who claimed to be a cryptocurrency expert was sentenced to seven years in prison by a Moscow court for planning and implementing a Ponzi scheme to defraud investors of bitcoin worth US$23 million (2.2 billion rubles) within 60 days in 2023. The woman's name is Valeria Fedyakina and is from Simferopol. Using the identity of "Bitmama", she pretended to be a legal cryptocurrency trader with offices around the world and promised clients that she could use cryptocurrency to transfer funds overseas to circumvent Western sanctions.
