BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) today announced its August new energy vehicle (NEV) sales figures, followed by breakdowns showcasing performance across different models and sub-brands.
The BYD Qin family models sold 62,561 units in August, remaining BYD's top-selling lineup.
August sales for the Qin family decreased 11.21 percent year-on-year but increased 16.05 percent month-on-month.
The BYD Seal sold 53,992 units in August, surpassing the Song family to become BYD's second-highest selling lineup. Although this represents a 1.54 percent year-on-year decrease, while a 15.24 percent increase compared to July.
The BYD Sealion family sold 53,279 units in August, becoming BYD's third-highest selling model for the first time.
This represents a 658.64 percent year-on-year increase and a 67.4 percent rise from July. The family's inaugural model, the Sealion 07 EV, was launched on May 10, 2024.
The Song family models sold 43,187 units in August, down 43.76 percent year-on-year and down 17.97 percent month-on-month.
The Song family includes the Dynasty Series models Song L EV, Song L DM-i, Song Pro DM-i, and the Ocean Series models Song Plus EV, Song Plus DM-i.
BYD's Dynasty series Song models sold 27,132 units in August, down 25.27 percent year-on-year but up 0.30 percent month-on-month.
Sales of the Ocean series Song models reached 16,055 units in August, down 60.35 percent year-on-year and down 37.28 percent month-on-month.
BYD's Yuan family sold 37,046 units in August, down 12.17 percent year-on-year but up 61.23 percent month-on-month.
BYD Seagull sold 34,204 units in August, down 16.47 percent year-on-year and down 23.97 percent month-on-month.
BYD Dolphin sold 21,708 units in August, up 43.15 percent year-on-year and up 9.28 percent month-on-month.
BYD Chaser 05 sold 9,980 units in August, down 34.91 percent year-on-year and down 3.14 percent month-on-month.
BYD Han sold 9,339 units in August, down 45.16 percent year-on-year and down 23.79 percent month-on-month.
BYD Tang sold 8,860 units in August, down 26.59 percent year-on-year and down 26.18 percent month-on-month.
BYD Xia MPV (multi-purpose vehicle) sold 5,075 units in August, down 9.21 percent from July.
BYD e2 sold 122 units in August, down 82.37 percent year-on-year but up 48.78 percent month-on-month.
BYD brand's passenger vehicles, including the Dynasty and Ocean series, collectively sold 339,353 units in August, down 3.85 percent year-on-year but up 8.32 percent month-on-month.
The Dynasty series sold 150,013 units in August, down 15.74 percent year-on-year but up 12.13 percent month-on-month.
The Ocean series sold 189,340 units in August, up 8.26 percent year-on-year and 5.47 percent month-on-month.
BYD's premium Denza brand sold 11,993 units in August, up 20.06 percent year-on-year and up 5.43 percent month-on-month.
Denza's August sales comprised 8,712 units of the D9 MPV, 1,102 units of the Z9 series, 2,021 units of the N9, and 158 units of the N7.
BYD's personalized sub-brand Fang Cheng Bao sold 16,265 vehicles in August, marking a 233.57 percent year-on-year increase and a 14.70 percent rise from July.
This comprised 9,081 Tai 3 units, 5,334 Bao 5 units, and 1,850 Bao 8 units.
BYD's ultra-luxury sub-brand Yangwang sold 405 vehicles in August, marking a 30.65 percent year-on-year increase and a 19.47 percent rise from July.
The Yangwang U8 SUV sold 77 units, the U9 electric supercar sold 1 unit, and the U7 sedan sold 327 units.
