EU says trade talks with the United States are still making progress "

Internet reports that European Commission Vice President Shevcovic said after meeting with U.S. Trade Representative Greer that the EU and the United States are moving in the "right direction" in trade negotiations. "Our goal is to maintain this momentum," Shevcovic said."I believe we can achieve positive results." He added,"But we are also prepared to defend our interests and do our best to rebalance our trade relationship." When asked about Trump's recent increase in steel and aluminum tariffs, Shevcovic said it would not help negotiations and urged the United States and the European Union to work together to solve the problem of overcapacity. According to estimates by the European Commission, Trump's tariffs currently cover 380 billion euros ($433 billion), accounting for about 70% of EU exports to the United States. (Jin Shi)
