AMD and OpenAI jointly released a super AI chip that improves reasoning by 35 times
According to online reports, AMD held the 2025 Global AI Development Conference, which mainly released and introduced the latest AI chips and cloud-based hardware equipment. Sam Altman, co-founder and CEO of OpenAI, attended the conference as a special guest and jointly released the Instinct MI400 and Instinct MI350 series of super AI chips with ADM. Especially during the research and development process, OpenAI has been providing technical feedback to AMD to help it optimize GPUs. At the press conference, Sam Altman was stunned when he heard that a single MI400 was equipped with 432 gigabytes of HBM4 memory and shouted that it was impossible. Compared with the previous generation, the MI350 is equipped with 288GB of HBM3E memory and a memory bandwidth of up to 8TB/s, which improves AI computing power by 4 times and improves inference performance by 35 times. AMD said that because chips consume less power than competitors, the MI355X can provide 40% more tokens per dollar than NVIDIA chips. (AIGC Open Community)
