Bitcoin developers propose "absolute penalty" for OP_RETURN "garbage people"
On June 14, it was reported that Bitcoin developer Peter Todd was developing an unusual punishment for those who opposed his upcoming changes to the Bitcoin network. Todd maintains that the default memory pool at the core of Bitcoin should be able to accommodate large amounts of corporate data storage and information unrelated to movement along the Bitcoin (BTC) chain. However, people who disliked Todd's Libre Relay's accommodation of corporate data storage created so-called "junk man" software to punish Libre Relay node operators who spread such big deals. Todd is developing countermeasures to protect his software. He hopes that Bitcoin node operators will be able to disconnect from "garbage man" nodes and use complex mathematics and code to reliably estimate whether a node is running such a "garbage man" attack.
