Coinbase: Assisted the U.S. Secret Service in seizing $225 million in stolen cryptocurrency
Coinbase has announced that it played a "key role" in assisting the U.S. Secret Service in tracking and seizing $225 million in stolen cryptocurrency. The case dates back to 2023 and is linked to a human trafficking ring suspected of carrying out "pig killing". Coinbase uses on-chain tracking technology to identify money flows and help identify victims eligible for compensation. This seizure is the largest cryptocurrency seizure in the history of the US Secret Service. Tether has previously frozen US$225 million in USDT and said it has frozen a total of US$2.7 billion in funds related to criminal activities. The Ministry of Justice expressed its gratitude for this cooperation.
