Trump: Not considering extending tariff negotiation deadline may increase Japanese tariffs "
Internet reports that U.S. President Trump said on Tuesday that he would not consider extending the July 9 deadline for countries to negotiate trade agreements with the United States, and expressed doubts that an agreement could be reached with Japan. Trump said: "We have dealt with Japan. I'm not sure we can come to an agreement. I doubt this." Trump said he could impose tariffs of "30%, 35%, or whatever we decide" on imports from Japan, which is well above the 24% rate he announced on April 2.
