Trump sells U.S. residency for $1 million
On September 20, U.S. President Trump signed an executive order called the "Golden Card" on the 19th, saying that it will open up a new visa channel for "foreigners with extraordinary abilities and willing to support the United States": Individuals who pay US$1 million to the U.S. Treasury Department or US$2 million sponsored by companies can obtain accelerated visa treatment through this "Golden Card" project. Trump said on social media platforms that the U.S. immigration system is in urgent need of reform, and the "Trump Gold Card" is expected to soon bring in far more than $100 billion in revenue. The money will be used for tax cuts, projects to promote economic growth and to repay national debt. Trump wrote in another post,"Buy Trump Gold Card now," and linked to a government website. According to relevant websites, after passing the review and paying relevant handling fees, applicants can obtain a "Trump Gold Card" for US$1 million, thus obtaining permanent residence status.
