Global Ledger: Crypto theft exceeded $3 billion in the first half of the year, and nearly 70% of the funds were transferred before exposure

According to online reports, online analysis company Global Ledger released a report stating that there were 119 encryption attacks in the first half of 2025, involving a total amount of US$3.01 billion, exceeding the total for the whole year of 2024. The report revealed that the speed of money laundering by hackers has accelerated significantly. Nearly 70% of funds were transferred before the attack was made public. In nearly 23% of cases, money laundering was completed before the incident was disclosed, and the fastest time was only 3 minutes. According to the report, only 4.2% of stolen funds were recovered; 15.1% of them were circulated through centralized exchanges (CEX), which often had only a 10 - 15 minute outage time. CEX became the largest target of attack, accounting for 54.26%.
