According to online reports, OpenAI issued an article saying that we have noticed that many users like to use Deep Research, so OpenAI has introduced a lightweight version of Deep Research to expand the use of Plus, Team and Pro users to increase the current rate limit. We have also launched a lightweight version for free users. The lightweight version of Deep Research is supported by the OpenAI o4-mini version. Its intelligence level is close to the standard version of Deep Research that users are familiar with and loved, while operating costs are significantly reduced. This version maintains the depth and quality that users expect, while the responsive content is usually more concise. When the usage limit of the standard version is exhausted, the system will automatically switch to the lightweight version to respond to queries. All Plus, Team and Pro users are now expanding their use of Deep Research. Enterprise and education users will gain access over the next week and have the same level of usage as Team users. A lightweight version of Deep Research is available to all free users today.
