Huawei-backed Stelato begins pre-sales of S9T wagon at $45,660

Stelato, the new brand jointly developed by Huawei and Beijing Automotive Group (BAIC Group), has begun pre-sales of the S9T station wagon, which will compete with models including the Nio Inc (NYSE: NIO) ET5 Touring.
The S9T, Stelato's second model following the S9 sedan, has a pre-sales price of RMB 328,000 ($45,660), higher than the Nio ET5 Touring's starting price of RMB 298,000.
Like the S9, the S9T offers both battery electric vehicle (BEV) and extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) variants. Most Huawei-backed models offer both powertrain options.
The S9T BEV is equipped with a 100-kWh Huawei Giant Whale battery pack, offering a range of up to 801 kilometers.
The S9T EREV is equipped with Huawei's Xuexiao extended-range system, with a battery range of up to 354 kilometers and a total range of up to 1,305 kilometers when fully fueled and charged, according to Stelato.
The S9T's cabin features more than 10 screens and is equipped with Huawei's intelligent projection screen system 2.0.
Its smart driving system includes a 192-channel LiDAR, three high-precision solid-state LiDARs, and five 4D millimeter-wave radars.
The model is one of the first to be equipped with Huawei's ADS 4, an smart driving system released in April this year, which has four levels depending on its capabilities.
The S9T will be officially launched in September, Stelato said on July 31.
Customers who place a deposit of RMB 2,000 for the model now will receive a RMB 5,000 discount upon final payment and priority delivery rights.
Stelato is one of five automotive brands under Huawei's HIMA (Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance) umbrella, with the other four being Aito from Seres Group, Luxeed from Chery, Maextro from Anhui Jianghuai Automobile Group (JAC), and Shangjie from SAIC.
The brand's only model currently available is the Stelato S9, which was launched on August 6, 2024, targeting the high-end sedan market, with a starting price of RMB 309,800.
Station wagons were originally a niche market in China, but as more automakers began offering such models, they gained greater popularity.
The ET5 Touring delivered 4,418 units in July, marking the second consecutive month it surpassed the ES6 SUV (sport utility vehicle) to become the highest-selling Nio model, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.
