Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) saw its China-made vehicle sales decline again last month, following a marginal increase in June.
Tesla China sold 67,886 vehicles in July, including those sold in China and exported from China to overseas markets, according to data released today by the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA).
This represents a decrease of 8.41 percent from 74,117 vehicles in the same period last year and a decrease of 5.19 percent from 71,599 vehicles in June.
Tesla has a factory in Shanghai that produces the Model 3 sedan and Model Y crossover, which are delivered to local customers and also serve as an export hub.
Tesla China's sales performance has been weak since the end of last year.
Tesla China's monthly sales, including exports, declined year-on-year for eight months from October 2024 to May 2025, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.
In June, Tesla China's sales barely achieved a year-on-year increase of 0.83 percent.
Tesla's July delivery figures in China and export numbers from its Shanghai factory are not yet available.
In the first seven months of the year, Tesla China sold 432,360 vehicles, including exports to overseas markets, down 13.66 percent year-on-year.
Tesla will launch a six-seat Model Y L in China this fall in an attempt to enhance the appeal of its hot-selling SUV in the world's largest electric vehicle (EV) market.
The model entered the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology's regulatory catalog last month, showing a length of 4,976 mm, a width of 1,920 mm, a height of 1,668 mm, and a wheelbase of 3,040 mm.
For comparison, the updated five-seat Model Y, which was launched in China on January 10, measures 4,797 mm in length, 1,920 mm in width, and 1,624 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,890 mm.
Tesla has not yet announced the launch date for the Model Y L in China.
