Geely Auto (HKG: 0175) sub-brand Geely Galaxy has officially launched the A7 hybrid sedan, which will compete with models including the BYD (HKG: 1211,
OTCMKTS: BYDDY) Qin L DM-i.
The starting guide price for the Galaxy A7 is RMB 89,800 ($12,500), a reduction of RMB 8,000, or 8.18 percent, from the pre-sales starting price of RMB 97,800.
Specifically, Geely Galaxy offers seven variants for the model, with starting prices of RMB 89,800, RMB 95,800, RMB 105,800, RMB 105,800, RMB 111,800, RMB 100,000, and RMB 125,800.
Customers who purchase any variant before September 30 will receive a trade-in discount of RMB 8,000, bringing the actual starting price of the Galaxy A7 down further to RMB 81,800.
The Galaxy A7 is a mid-size sedan with dimensions of 4,918 mm in length, 1,905 mm in width, and 1,495 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,845 mm.
It is larger than the BYD Qin L DM-i, which has dimensions of 4,830 mm in length, 1,900 mm in width, 1,495 mm in height, and a wheelbase of 2,790 mm, with a starting price of RMB 99,800.
The Galaxy A7 is the first plug-in hybrid sedan developed based on Geely's GEA architecture (Global Intelligent New Energy Architecture), equipped with a 1.5-liter engine with a thermal efficiency of up to 47.26 percent.
The model focuses on fuel economy, with a CLTC fuel consumption of 2.67 liters per 100 kilometers when the battery is depleted, and a combined range of 2,100 kilometers when the battery is fully charged and the fuel tank is full.
The battery pack has two options: an 8.5 kWh battery from CALB and an 18.4 kWh battery from CALT, providing 70 kilometers and 150 kilometers of battery range, respectively.
The car has two variants equipped with basic driver assistance systems, while other variants are equipped with Geely's G-Pilot H3 intelligent driving assistance system, which supports city commuting navigation assistance and highway navigation assistance.
Geely Galaxy did not offer these two variants initially when it began pre-sales of the A7 on July 11. They were added on July 18 to target customers who do not value smart driving capabilities.
Compared to competitors such as the BYD Qin L DM-i and Seal 06 DM-i, the Galaxy A7 has a longer body length and wheelbase, and is equipped with a more powerful Flyme Auto cockpit system, according to a research note released today by Deutsche Bank analyst Wang Bin's team.
Given the strong sales performance of the BYD Qin L DM-i and Seal 06 DM-i, the Galaxy A7 is expected to achieve an average monthly sales volume of 10,000 units, according to the team.
