The UK Treasury is considering selling £ 5 billion worth of bitcoin to cover the fiscal deficit
Internet reports that British Chancellor of the Exchequer Rachel Reeves is considering selling seized cryptocurrencies held by the government to relieve pressure on the country's finances. The Ministry of the Interior is working with the police to develop an official cryptocurrency storage system to process sales of Bitcoin and other digital currencies. It is estimated that the value of seized cryptocurrencies held by the British government is at least £ 5 billion. One of the 2018 enforcement actions seized 61,000 bitcoins from a Ponzi scheme, worth more than £ 5.4 billion at current prices.
