Shopify partners with Coinbase and Stripe to promote USDC stablecoin payments
According to two announcements released on Thursday, Shopify has teamed up with Coinbase and Stripe to make it easier for merchants to accept payments in Circle's USDC stablecoins. Stripe said in a press release: "Shoppers will be able to use their favorite crypto-wallet to make payments using USDC on Base. By default, Stripe will allow merchants to receive stablecoin payments in their preferred local currency and deposit them into their bank accounts like any other payment they receive." Stripe said the service will be available to Shopify merchants in 34 countries. Stripe said that over the past two years, stablecoin payments have settled more than US$94 billion, and during this period, monthly payments have grown from less than US$2 billion to more than US$6.3 billion.
