Meta cuts more than 100 Reality Labs employees
According to online reports, according to people familiar with the matter, Meta Platforms(META.O) is laying off more than 100 people in its Reality Labs division, which focuses on developing virtual reality and wearable devices. The person familiar with the matter revealed that the latest round of layoffs has affected Reality Labs employees who focus on creating VR experiences for Meta's Quest headsets, as well as operations employees who focus on hardware. Meta leadership wants to simplify similar work being done by two different teams within Reality Labs. According to media reports, the company confirmed it had laid off workers but did not comment on the number of employees affected. "Some teams at Oculus Studios are undergoing structural and role shifts that have affected team size," Meta spokeswoman Tracy Clayton said in an emailed statement.
