China's overall new energy-vehicle (NEV) retail sales remained above 1 million units last month, despite continued deceleration in growth.
In August, China's passenger NEV retail sales came in at 1.079 million units, up 5 percent year-on-year and up 9 percent from July, according to preliminary data released today by the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA).
This marks the sixth consecutive month since March that China's passenger NEV retail sales have seen a slowdown in year-on-year growth. In July, NEV retail sales totaled 987,000 units, representing a 12.03 percent year-on-year increase.
Year-to-date, China's cumulative passenger NEV retail sales were 7.54 million units, up 25 percent year-on-year, according to the CPCA.
China's passenger NEV wholesale sales in August totaled 1.292 million units, a 23 percent increase year-on-year and a 9 percent rise from July.
Year-to-date, China's cumulative passenger NEV wholesale sales reached 8.93 million units, up 33 percent year-on-year.
In August, China's total passenger vehicle retail sales reached 1.952 million units, up 3 percent year-on-year and up 7 percent month-on-month.
Year-to-date, China's total passenger vehicle retail sales reached 14.7 million units, up 9 percent year-on-year.
This indicates China's NEV retail penetration rate reached 55.3 percent in August and 51.26 percent year-to-date.
During the first week of August, August 1-10, China's daily average passenger vehicle retail sales were 45,207 units, down 4 percent year-on-year but up 6 percent compared to the same period last month.
During the second week of August, August 11-17, China's daily average passenger vehicle retail sales reached 59,068 units, up 8 percent year-on-year and 10 percent compared to the same period last month.
During the third week of August, August 18-24, China's daily average passenger vehicle retail sales reached 59,941 units, up 6 percent year-on-year but down 5 percent compared to the same period last month.
In the fourth week of August, August 25-31, China's daily average passenger vehicle retail sales hit 95,279 units, rising 2 percent year-on-year and increasing 15 percent compared to the same period last month.
China's total passenger vehicle wholesale sales in August reached 2.409 million units, up 12 percent year-on-year and up 8 percent month-on-month.
From August 1-10, China's average daily wholesale sales of passenger vehicles were 40,253 units, a 16 percent increase year-on-year but a 3 percent decrease compared to the same period last month.
From August 11-17, China's daily average wholesale sales of passenger vehicles were 62,690 units, up 22 percent year-on-year and 19 percent month-on-month.
From August 18-24, China's daily average wholesale sales of passenger vehicles totaled 71,368 units, up 2 percent year-on-year and up 3 percent month-on-month.
From August 25 to 31, China's passenger vehicle wholesale sales averaged 152,591 units daily, up 12 percent year-on-year and up 12 percent month-on-month.
Year-to-date, China's passenger vehicle wholesale sales reached 17.93 million units, up 12 percent compared to the same period last year.
