The United States proposes a 10% tariff agreement to the European Union with conditions
Internet reports that an EU diplomat and an EU official said the United States has proposed an agreement to the EU that would maintain a benchmark tariff of 10% on all EU goods, except for sensitive industries such as aircraft and spirits. Diplomats emphasized that the contours of a trade agreement remain largely a changing goal and that any agreement would require Trump's approval to move forward. Washington has not said it will exempt politically sensitive industries such as automobiles, steel, aluminum or pharmaceuticals as required by the EU. However, France, Italy and Ireland may be happy to be exempt from taxes on liquor and aircraft.(Politico)
