The White House promotes Grok approval of xAI for government use
According to Internet reports, Techinasia reported that based on emails obtained by Wired, the White House instructed the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) to add xAI's Grok chatbot to its list of approved artificial intelligence vendors. xAI was originally not included in the GSA's August 2025 approval list, which included OpenAI, Google and Anthropic. An email last week showed that GSA leadership requested that two versions of the xAI large language model, Grok3 and Grok4, be restored to the procurement list. Government contractor Carahsoft has also updated its contract to include xAI, and as of August 29, 2025, two Grok versions are available on the GSAAdvantage market. xAI had previously announced a Grok version for U.S. government agencies, but approval was delayed due to offensive content generated by the chatbot. There is currently no information on pricing or government discounts for xAI services.
