U.S. appeals court allows Trump tariffs to remain in effect temporarily
Online reported that on Thursday local time, a federal appeals court suspended a panel of judges 'ruling that forced the suspension of several tariffs Trump imposed on international trading partners. The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit said in a brief ruling: "The International Trade Court's judgments and permanent injunctions in these cases will be temporarily suspended until further notice, while the court will consider whether execution of the ruling should be suspended for a longer period of time." The decision postponed the lower court's ruling until at least June 9, when the parties will submit legal arguments on whether the case should be suspended while the appeals court will weigh issues in the case. A judge at the U.S. Court of International Trade ruled yesterday that the International Emergency Economic Powers Act, cited by Trump in multiple of his executive orders, did not "grant the president unlimited tariff powers."
