Musk lobbies Washington to clear the way for autonomous vehicles
Online reports that Elon Musk is pushing lawmakers to help clear the way for driverless cars, according to people familiar with the matter, as part of his broader efforts to lobby for a key priority for Tesla (TSLA.O). In recent weeks, Musk and the people who work for him have been calling members of Congress directly seeking support, and he has been considering amending a bill introduced May 15 that would begin establishing a basic framework for self-driving cars. One of the people familiar with the matter said options discussed included speeding up passage of the bill or submitting a more detailed similar bill before Congress adjourns on July 4.
