Polygon warns: fraudsters use AI technology to fake videos of their own image and target encryption startups
According to Internet reports, according to Cryptoslaate, Polygon co-founder Sandeep Nailwal recently disclosed that fraudsters used AI technology to forge videos of their image to target encryption industry start-ups. The scammers first hacked into the Telegram account of Shreyansh Singh, head of Polygon Ventures, and then contacted startups in the ecosystem to induce victims to attend Zoom meetings on the grounds of investment negotiations. During the meeting, scammers used AI-generated images of Nailwal, Singh and fictional team members (no audio interaction) and tricked participants into installing malware development kits. Nailwal said that many entrepreneurs have asked him to verify the authenticity of the meeting. Nailwal advised community members not to install unfamiliar software during unsolicited interactions, and he also emphasized the importance of operating specifications, calling on encryption users to separate wallet signing activities from daily device use.
