Trump administration is sued by multiple U.S. states for withholding approximately $6.8 billion in education funding
Internet reports that on July 14 local time, a U.S. state coalition led mainly by Democrats sued the Trump administration, accusing it of withholding approximately $6.8 billion in education funding approved by Congress. Attorneys general or governors from 24 states and the District of Colombia filed a lawsuit in federal court in Providence, Rhode Island, alleging that the U.S. Department of Education and the White House Office of Management and Budget unconstitutional freezing of funding for six projects approved by Congress, throwing schools across the country into chaos. The lawsuit asks a federal judge in Rhode Island to order the release of the funds, which were supposed to be distributed to states on July 1. It is understood that the funds are used to pay for free or low-cost after-school activities.
