Bolivia plans to launch digital currency to deal with cross-border payments "

According to online reports, Bolivia's central bank governor Edwin Rojas Ulo said that the country is working with international organizations to design a digital currency called "Virtual Bolivia", which is designed to be used for international settlements and save foreign exchange reserves, especially the US dollar. He pointed out that this move will help modernize the payment system, especially by freeing up reserve funds in cross-border payment scenarios. Detailed proposals for the digital currency are expected to be announced in August. In addition, adoption of digital assets has doubled in three months since the Central Bank of Bolivia allowed the use of bank accounts to purchase cryptocurrencies. At the same time, due to foreign exchange shortages, Bolivia has also begun to use stablecoins as an alternative to the US dollar and explored the possibility of paying for energy imports through cryptocurrencies.
