GWM Tank begins pre-sales of updated Tank 500 SUV, starting at $50,080

Great Wall Motor (GWM) has launched pre-sales for the updated Tank 500 SUV (sport utility vehicle), one of its most important models.
Tank announced yesterday at an event that it has started accepting pre-orders for the updated Tank 500 SUV, which is available in the Tank 500 Hi4-T and the Tank 500 Hi4-Z. The former focuses more on off-road performance, while the latter is more family use-oriented.
Their pre-sale prices are RMB 360,000 ($50,080) and RMB 388,800, respectively.
The updated Tank 500 measures 5,078 mm in length, 1,934 mm in width, and 1,905 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,850 mm, identical to its predecessor.
Both the Hi4-T and Hi4-Z are equipped with a plug-in hybrid powertrain consisting of a 2.0-liter engine with a maximum power output of 180 kW (245 horsepower), and electric motors.
The Tank 500 Hi4-T is equipped with a single motor with a maximum power output of 120 kW. It features a battery pack with a capacity of 37.1 kWh, offering a WLTC battery range of 110 kilometers.
The Tank 500 Hi4-Z is equipped with dual motors, delivering a combined power output of 455 kW. It features a battery pack with a capacity of 59.05 kWh, offering a WLTC battery range of 201 kilometers.
The updated Tank 500 will be equipped with ATX LiDAR provided by Hesai Group (NASDAQ: HSAI) and GWM's third-generation assisted driving system, Coffee Pilot Ultra.
The Coffee Pilot Ultra driving assistance system's sensors include one 128-channel LiDAR, three millimeter-wave radars, 12 ultrasonic radars, and 11 high-definition cameras.
Its smart driving chip is Nvidia Orin-X, which enables HD map-free full-scenario NOA, memory parking, and automatic parking.
The Tank brand sold 20,020 vehicles in July, up 7.16 percent year-on-year, contributing 19.18 percent of GWM's monthly sales, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.
In the first seven months of the year, the Tank brand sold 123,680 vehicles, down 8.19 percent year-on-year.
