The U.S. Senate confirms former blockchain industry executive Jonathan Gould as OCC director
According to online reports, the U.S. Senate voted 50 - 45 to confirm Jonathan Gould, former Bitfury chief legal officer, as director of the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC). The nomination will be sent to President Trump for final approval. Gould served as chief adviser and deputy administrator of the OCC. Since this year, the OCC has taken more crypto-friendly measures, including allowing U.S. banks to own their own crypto-assets. At the same time, the House of Representatives is accelerating the advancement of stablecoin legislation. Next week, it will hold "Crypto Week" to review the GENIUS Act, requiring stablecoins to be fully collateralized by liquid assets such as the US dollar, and to issue issuers with a market value of more than US$50 billion. Conduct an annual audit.
