Coinbase has sued a German man, accusing him of maliciously squatting the domain name coinbase.de and threatening extortion

Internet reports, Cointelegraph reported that cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase has sued German man Tobias Honscha in California federal court, accusing him of maliciously squatting the domain name coinbase.de and trying to extort the company. Coinbase alleges that Honscha used the domain name to redirect users to physical coin trading applications and profiting through Coinbase's affiliate marketing program, violating the terms of the alliance agreement that prohibit the use of the word "Coinbase" in domain names. More seriously, Coinbase accused Honscha of threatening that if the company did not purchase the domain name at a high price, phishing attacks could occur, including risks such as "unauthorized submission of IDs, passwords and One-Time Double Captcha." Coinbase believes this is "clear extortion." In addition, the domain name is also used to operate email services, which may mislead users into thinking that they are in official communication with Coinbase. Coinbase asked the court to order to stop using the domain name, transfer ownership of the domain name, and compensate for losses.
