Internet reports that at a European Central Bank event held in Portugal, someone asked Federal Reserve Chairman Powell,"Does frequent personal attacks by US President Trump make his job more difficult?" To this, Powell replied: "I only focus on doing my job well. What's important is to use our tools to achieve the goals Congress has given us: maximum employment, price stability, and financial stability. This is where we are 100% focused." The audience and other participants, including European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde, applauded. When subsequently asked if he would stay in the Federal Reserve after the chairman's term ends in May next year, Powell said he had no comment today.
