Online reports, Cointelegraph reported that the U.S. Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) announced on Tuesday sanctions against Russian "bulletproof custody" service provider Aeza Group, and froze approximately US$350,000 in assets in a crypto wallet associated with it. The company is accused of providing professional servers and computer infrastructure to ransomware and information thieves. Sanctions also target a number of Russian and British companies, as well as four Russian executives. Blockchain analytics company Chainalysis said that the sanctioned Tron blockchain address is Aeza's management wallet, which is responsible for processing payments and transferring funds to various crypto exchanges. The move represents an important step for the U.S. government to crack down on cybercrime infrastructure.
