U.S. Treasury Secretary Basent will attend the G7 Financial Leaders 'Meeting to focus on trade issues

Internet reported that a spokesman for the U.S. Treasury Department said on Sunday that U.S. Treasury Secretary Bessant will attend the Group of Seven (G7) financial leaders 'meeting in Canada on Tuesday and will seek to refocus the G7 on resolving trade imbalances and non-market economic behavior. A spokesman for the U.S. Treasury Department said Basent will also discuss with these officials how to achieve more growth driven by the private sector. Bessent also vowed to "re-privatize" the U.S. economy by cutting government spending and regulation, arguing that the U.S. economy relies too much on the public sector to drive growth. Besent held face-to-face discussions with G7 financial leaders for the first time in April on the sidelines of International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank meetings, but did not issue a joint statement.
