US SEC members support transaction privacy rights: Open source privacy software developers should not be held accountable for code use
Internet reports that U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Commissioner Hester Peirce delivered a speech at the blockchain science conference, calling on regulators to protect individuals 'rights to conduct private transactions. She made clear that developers of open source privacy software should not be held responsible for others 'use of their code. Against the backdrop of the imminent verdict in the case of TornadoCash co-founder Roman Storm, Peirce emphasized that privacy protection technologies, the right to self-custody of cryptocurrencies and the rights of developers of open source privacy software should all be protected. She further pointed out that just as cryptographers fought to defend private use of strong encryption technologies in the 1990s, these technologies are of great significance to social development.
