US media: Powell asks Federal Reserve inspectors to review renovation costs
Online reports, according to AXIOS, a person familiar with the matter said that Federal Reserve Chairman Powell has asked the Federal Reserve's Inspector General to review its $2.5 billion headquarters renovation project-which has become the focus of attacks by the Trump administration. Recently, Trump placed close aides in the National Capital Planning Commission (NCPC), which has the power to supervise federal architectural design matters. A senior White House official suggested that the Federal Reserve's changes to buildings violated relevant laws governing the NCPC. The Federal Reserve's Office of the Inspector General has previously reviewed the long-planned project, but this review is intended to reassess it as supervision increases.
