Anthropic cut off OpenAI's access to Claude through an application programming interface (API) on Friday, The Internet reported. An Anthropic spokesperson said the move was because OpenAI "used our coding tools before the release of GPT-5," violating Anthropic's terms of service. These terms prohibit the use of Anthropic's artificial intelligence technology to develop competitive artificial intelligence models.
