White House officials pressured Federal Reserve Chairman Powell for serious mismanagement
Internet reports that a key Trump administration official said Federal Reserve Chairman Powell had seriously mismanaged the agency and asked for more information about the renovation of the Federal Reserve's Washington headquarters. "The president is deeply disturbed by your stewardship of the Federal Reserve system," Vought, director of the Office of Management and Budget, wrote in a letter to Powell."Instead of trying to correct the Fed's fiscal situation, you are renovating Washington headquarters with great fanfare." The letter continued the tone of Trump, senior administration officials and some congressional Republicans, placing greater scrutiny on Powell at a time when the Federal Reserve is facing widespread pressure to cut interest rates.
