Nio Inc (NYSE: NIO) has reduced the prices of all its long-range models following Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) earlier today's launch of the six-seat Model Y L SUV (sport utility vehicle).
The company has reduced the cost of the optional 100-kWh long-range battery pack for its Nio brand by RMB 20,000 ($2,780), resulting in price reductions for all long-range versions of its models currently on sale.
Effective August 19, the price of the 100-kWh long-range battery pack has been reduced from RMB 128,000 to RMB 108,000, the company announced today.
Following this adjustment, the starting price of the Nio ET9 executive flagship sedan, which comes standard with a 100-kWh battery pack, has been reduced by 2.54 percent from RMB 788,000 to RMB 768,000.
The starting price of both the ET5 and ET5 Touring with 100-kWh packs, which are the lowest-priced Nio models with long range packs, has been reduced by the most, at 5.62 percent.

For customers who have purchased the 100-kWh models but have not yet received delivery, Nio will arrange delivery at the adjusted prices.
For customers who have already received delivery of the 100-kWh models, Nio will compensate those who received delivery between January 1 and August 18 this year with a discount voucher worth RMB 20,000.
The discount voucher is valid for five years and can be used when purchasing a new Nio brand vehicle, but is not applicable to sub-brands Onvo and Firefly models.
For customers who purchased a 100-kWh long-range Nio model based on the BaaS (battery as a service) plan, if they bought out the battery between January 1 and August 18, they will also receive a discount voucher worth RMB 20,000.
Starting from August 19, customers who permanently upgrade their 75-kWh standard-range battery pack to a 100-kWh battery pack will see the price reduced from RMB 58,000 to RMB 38,000.
Customers who complete the permanent upgrade between January 1 and August 18 will also receive a discount voucher worth RMB 20,000.
For BaaS customers, the monthly rental fee remains unchanged, with the 75-kWh battery pack still priced at RMB 728 per month and the 100-kWh battery pack at RMB 1,128 per month.
