According to online reports, Crypto In America has learned that the U.S. Treasury Department will hold a series of closed-door policy roundtables with major players in the cryptocurrency industry this week. According to several sources familiar with the agenda, the discussions will last for a week and cover four main areas: stablecoins, decentralized finance (DeFi), banking relations and cybersecurity. The stablecoin-themed meeting will be held on Thursday, May 15, and aims to explore how to effectively control and reduce the risk of illegal financing in the context of continued focus on sanctions evasion and the role of offshore stablecoin issuers. Meeting topics will cover secondary market surveillance, freezing capabilities, counterparty due diligence and compliance loopholes.
