Iranian official: Iran now has the right to legally withdraw from the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons
According to online reports, the head of the Foreign Policy Committee of the Iranian Parliament stated that under Article X of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, Iran currently has the right to legally withdraw from the treaty. Article 10 of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons stipulates that if a State party determines that extraordinary events related to the subject matter of this Treaty have endangered its supreme interests, it has the right to withdraw from this Treaty in order to exercise its national sovereignty. The country should notify all other States parties and the United Nations Security Council of this withdrawal three months before it.
