Meta faces a new round of technological antitrust confrontations in the EU and has been fined 200 million euros

Internet reports that Meta Platforms Inc. may face another confrontation with the European Union after a 200 million euro ($232 million) fine failed to allow Facebook and Instagram to meet the EU's strict new digital regulations. The European Commission said it sent a letter to the Social networks giant last week warning that Meta's paid or consented service-in which users can pay for an ad-free experience-needed further adjustments. If Meta fails to meet the demands of the team of EU Competition Commissioner Teresa Ribera and Digital Policy Commissioner Henna Virkkunen, this procedural step could pave the way for the EU to issue a formal warning and eventually impose periodic fines. In April, Meta was fined for the first time for violating the Digital Markets Act.
