Trump: The United States needs to spend US$200 billion a year to subsidize Canada "

According to online reports, U.S. President Trump issued a message saying,"I look forward to meeting with Canada's new Prime Minister Mark Carney. I very much want to work with him, but there is a simple truth that I cannot understand-why does the United States subsidize Canada $200 billion a year and provide them with free military protection, among many other things? We don't need their cars, we don't need their energy, we don't need their wood, we don't need anything they have except their friendship--and hopefully we can keep that friendship forever. On the other hand, they need everything we have to offer! The Prime Minister is arriving, which is probably my only concern."
