Wells Fargo: US CPI rise may accelerate in April "

Internet reports that tariffs are prompting market institutions to prepare for higher inflation. Wells Fargo economists wrote ahead of next week's U.S. CPI report that consumer price increases may accelerate in April. They forecast a monthly CPI rise of 0.2% in April after an unexpected 0.1% decline in March. Economists say this will push the annual CPI rate to a four-year low of 2.3%. They expect the core CPI annual rate to remain unchanged at 2.8%. They said that with tariffs becoming a reality,"we think it's only a matter of time before higher import costs affect consumer prices."
