Japan denies reports that US Treasury Secretary is pushing yen appreciation
Internet reported that on Monday, Japan's top foreign exchange official, Jun Mimura, denied a report in the Yomiuri Shimbun that quoted U.S. Treasury Secretary Basente's remarks during bilateral talks with Japanese Finance Minister Katsumu Kato in Washington, saying that a weaker dollar and a stronger yen were desirable. Jun Misura said that the issue of foreign exchange targets was not discussed during the talks. Last Thursday, Kato and Besent held their first face-to-face meeting on the sidelines of IMF and World Bank meetings. (Jin Shi)
