Deliveries from Xiaomi's (HKG: 1810) electric vehicle (EV) unit, Xiaomi EV, will accelerate further as factory production capacity expands.
Xiaomi EV is planning to dynamically optimize vehicle delivery cycles, substantially reducing the time from order placement to pickup, according to multiple sales representatives from the EV unit cited in a report by local media outlet Cailian today.
The Xiaomi EV App will complete its upgrade this afternoon, at which point the expected delivery dates for some models are expected to advance by up to 6 weeks, and up to 2 months in some cases, compared to previously displayed timelines, these sales representatives said.
Previously, delivery wait times displayed on the Xiaomi EV App typically adjusted by 1-2 weeks in each adjustment, the report noted.
The core driver behind accelerated deliveries is rapidly rising production capacity, with Xiaomi EV achieving 36,500 units delivered last month, these sales personnel stated.
Xiaomi EV's current lineup includes the SU7 sedan series and the YU7 SUV (sport utility vehicle).
The SU7 was launched on March 28, 2024 as a competitor to Tesla's (NASDAQ: TSLA) Model 3. The YU7, Xiaomi's first electric SUV launched on June 26, is a rival to the Tesla Model Y.
Despite being a latecomer to China's EV industry, Xiaomi has achieved rare and remarkable success in this sector. The primary factor currently limiting its delivery volume is production capacity.
Customers ordering the SU7 now face wait times of up to 35-38 weeks for delivery, while the estimated delivery wait for the YU7 extends to 51-54 weeks, according to CnEVPost's daily monitoring.
In August, Xiaomi EV delivered 36,396 vehicles, marking the second consecutive month exceeding the 30,000-unit threshold following July's 30,452 deliveries, according to data compiled by CnEVPost from the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA).
The SU7 delivered 19,848 units in August, marking a 51.38 percent year-on-year increase, though down 18.69 percent from July's 24,410 units.
The YU7 delivered 16,548 units in August, a 173.88 percent increase from July's 6,042 units.
In a September 23 research note, Deutsche Bank projected Xiaomi EV's September deliveries would reach a record-high 42,000 units -- a 15 percent month-on-month increase and about 210 percent year-on-year growth.
According to dealer feedback, Xiaomi EV received about 25,000 new orders in September, including roughly 15,000 for the YU7 SUV and 10,000 for the SU7 sedan, the team noted.
Deutsche Bank attributed Xiaomi EV's month-on-month delivery growth to improved supply, noting August production surged 22 percent to 37,380 units -- significantly exceeding the average monthly output of roughly 30,000 units so far in 2025.
The team anticipated that increased production capacity will enable Xiaomi EV's monthly output to exceed 50,000 units by the fourth quarter of 2025.
