Hypersphere partner suffers Zoom fishing attack, 6 wallets of funds stolen
According to online reports, Mehdi Farooq, investment partner of crypto venture capital firm Hypersphere, said that after encountering a fake Zoom call phishing attack, funds from six wallets were stolen and years of savings were lost. Mehdi Farooq revealed that the attack began with a message posted on Alex LinTelegram, whom he knew. The two had interacted before, so the contact seemed like routine. The latter shared a link to the meeting and joined the scheduled Zoom meeting. After discovering that there was no audio, his system was hacked shortly after running the update, and the hackers "drained his years of savings" in just a few minutes.
