US Democratic lawmakers will block their committee's joint hearing with the House Agriculture Committee."

Online reports that Rep. Maxine Waters, the top Democrat on the U.S. House Financial Services Committee, will prevent her committee from holding a joint hearing with the House Agriculture Committee on the draft market structure discussion bill released Monday. Under House rules, all participants in a joint hearing must agree unanimously to proceed. According to CoinDesk, a Democratic staff member said Waters would oppose the joint hearing and prevent it from proceeding as planned because she believed former U.S. President Donald Trump's recent increased interaction with cryptocurrencies. The Financial Services Committee and the Agriculture Committee announced last week that they would hold joint hearings on market structure issues, and on Monday released the text of the first bill to address the issue, including how the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) will regulate cryptocurrencies.
