Czech Minister of Justice resigned after his department accepted a $45 million Bitcoin donation "
According to online reports, according to Cointelegraph, Czech Justice Minister Pavel Blazek announced his resignation on May 30 because of controversy over his department's sale of bitcoins donated by a convicted criminal. The Ministry of Justice previously announced on social platform X that it would obtain approximately 1 billion Czech kroner (approximately US$45 million) through the auction of nearly 500 bitcoins. Czech news media Denik N subsequently discovered that the bitcoins came from Tomas Jirikovsky, the convicted dark-web platform Sheep Marketplace operator. In March this year, Jirikovsky's lawyers offered to donate one-third of his Bitcoin, but Blazek accepted the donation without fully investigating the source of the funds. Police have currently launched an investigation into the source of the Bitcoin.
