BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) will unveil the updated Seal 07 DM-i this Friday, adding a roof-mounted LiDAR to the hybrid sedan, which is expected to enhance its advanced driver-assistance capabilities.
The new energy vehicle (NEV) maker announced today on Weibo that the 2026 model year Seal 07 DM-i will make its debut on the first day of the 2025 Chengdu auto show on August 29.
Official images released by BYD show that the updated Seal 07 DM-i features a LiDAR sensor on the roof, a configuration not present in its predecessor.
The plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) measures 4,995 mm in length, 1,900 mm in width, and 1,495 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,900 mm, according to previously disclosed specifications.
The currently available Seal 07 DM-i has dimensions of 4,980 mm in length, 1,890 mm in width, and 1,495 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,900 mm. This means the 2026 model year Seal 07 DM-i will be larger in size.
The 2026 Seal 07 DM-i is equipped with a 1.5T engine with a maximum power output of 115 kW and an electric motor with a maximum power output of 200 kW, the same as the current version.
The Seal 07 DM-i was first launched on August 8, 2024, as BYD's first mid-to-large-size sedan equipped with the fifth-generation DM (Dual Mode) technology, offering lower fuel consumption compared to the fourth-generation DM technology.
The currently available Seal 07 DM-i offers five variants, with a starting price range of RMB 139,800 ($19,530) to RMB 195,800.
BYD sold 344,296 NEVs in July, representing a year-on-year increase of 0.56 percent but a month-on-month decrease of 10.01 percent.
The Seal family sold 46,850 units in July, making it the third-best-selling BYD model, with a year-on-year increase of 39.46 percent and a month-on-month increase of 5.55 percent, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.
