According to online reports, data from the Indonesian Taxation Administration showed that the country's annual cryptocurrency tax revenue fluctuates between 50 billion and 60 billion Indonesian rupiah (approximately 31.25 million to 36.4 million US dollars). Specifically, the amount collected in the first year of 2022 will be 24.6 billion Indonesian rupiah, which will drop to 22 billion Indonesian rupiah in 2023, and will rise significantly to 62 billion Indonesian rupiah in 2024. Since 2025, 11.5 billion Indonesian rupiah has been collected. The Indonesian government has recently adjusted its cryptocurrency regulatory policy, raising the tax rate on overseas trading platforms to 1%, while the tax rate on domestic platforms has only increased to 0.21%. At the same time, the buyer's value-added tax on cryptocurrencies was abolished, and crypto assets were reclassified as financial assets and included in the scope of supervision of the Financial Services Administration. At present, the number of cryptocurrency users in Indonesia has exceeded 20 million, exceeding the number of investors in the country's stock market. The tax department stated that fluctuations in cryptocurrency prices may affect future tax performance.
