Geely Auto (HKG: 0175) delivered robust sales performance last month as its Geely Galaxy sub-brand maintained strong momentum.
The automaker sold 250,167 vehicles in August, marking its second-highest monthly sales on record behind January's 266,737 units, according to a Hong Kong Stock Exchange filing today.
This represents a 38.04 percent year-on-year increase and a 5.24 percent rise from July.
The robust growth was primarily driven by Geely Galaxy, which sold a record 110,666 units in August -- a 172.59 percent year-on-year surge and a 16.44 percent increase from July.
Geely Galaxy was originally launched as a new product lineup on February 23, 2023. On March 3 this year, Geely announced the upgrade of Geely Galaxy to a standalone brand.
Sales of the Geometry lineup have been consolidated under Geely Galaxy since October 2024.
The Zeekr brand delivered 17,626 vehicles in August, marking a 2.16 percent year-on-year decline but a 3.82 percent increase compared to July.
Lynk & Co delivered 27,217 vehicles in August, a 20.81 percent year-on-year increase and remaining flat compared to July's 27,216 units.
Geely Auto's battery electric vehicle (BEV) sales came in at 93,362 units in August, up 98.47 percent year-on-year and up 3.69 percent month-on-month.
Plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) sales totaled 53,985 units in August, rising 89.81 percent year-on-year and up 34.69 percent month-on-month.
Geely Auto exported 36,077 vehicles in August, down 19.91 percent year-on-year but up 2.28 percent from July.
Its domestic sales in China reached 214,090 units in August, a 57.21 percent increase year-on-year and a 5.75 percent rise from July.
