ZachXBT reveals: Scammers posing as Coinbase customer service suspected of stealing $6.5 million
Online reports that online analyst ZachXBT disclosed that a social engineering fraudster named Ronaldd (real identity is Ronald Spektor) was accused of stealing $6.5 million from a victim last month by impersonating Coinbase customer service. The incident occurred on October 7. The victim received a call disguised as Coinbase customer service and was induced to visit the phishing website, resulting in the theft of funds. On-chain tracking shows that stolen funds flow to the eXch platform and are converted into litecoin and distributed to multiple service platforms. Just a few days later, Ronaldd showed off on Discord the $3.1 million his Ledger Live account received on October 8 via screen sharing. Further investigation found that the TON address associated with his Telegram account showed that the funds came from multiple exchanges and were related to other Coinbase withdrawal records, further proving the possibility of his involvement in the fraud.
