Tornado Cash makes emergency appeal to raise $500,000 as trial approaches

Roman Storm, co-founder of cryptocurrency mixing service Tornado Cash, will face trial on Monday on charges of money laundering and sanctions violations, Internet reported. He posted an urgent request for assistance on social platform X on Saturday, hoping to raise $500,000 in the next few days. Storm said he currently faces a "serious funding gap" and in addition to the emergency funding, he will need an additional $1 million in the next few weeks to cover legal costs. He added: "My team is working non-stop to defend code as a right to free speech, protect software development, and counter excessive government interference-an interference that threatens all of us."
